In light of the growing interest in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the University of Tokyo has established an university-wide initiative on research and education related to the SDGs. In order to achieve the ambitious SDGs, involvement of the younger generation and innovation are crucial. We invite guests from the UN agencies to discuss how to tackle SDGs in Japan and beyond, mainly from the perspective of the young generation. In this symposium, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), which promotes the development of industrial infrastructure in developing countries, will discuss how to collaborate with universities. We welcome participation of interested people in all generations.
